About Me

Meet Betsy

Our family of four moved to Sudbury three years ago drawn by its highly regarded public schools and strong sense of community. Sudbury is a place that I am proud to call home.

Having attended public schools from K-12 and earning my degrees from a public institution, I believe that a strong public education system is beneficial to the entire community, not just students. And, as a daughter of a now retired kindergarten teacher, I truly appreciate the dedication educators have for their students and the lasting impact they make.

The School Committee's responsibilities directly align to my professional experience.

  • Establish educational goals and policies for the schools in the district consistent with the requirements of law and statewide goals and standard established by the Board of Education;

  • Review and approve budgets for public education in the district; and,

  • Select, hire, and annually evaluate the Superintendent.

I hold a CPA and work as a Director of Policy and Procedure Governance at an Accounting and Consulting Firm. I have 20 years of experience overseeing the development and execution of finance-owned policies and procedures that align with strategic goals and risk mitigation strategies, financial statements audits, and consulting on strategic planning and compliance.

I am running for the two-year Sudbury School Committee seat, because I understand the importance of establishing district policies, setting educational goals, and approving budgets. I believe strong leadership is essential for achieving measurable goals in our schools.

Sudbury is a place where all people and learners are welcomed and valued. If elected, I will use my 20 years of work experience to ensure these community values are reflected in our policies and budget practice. It is imperative that we effectively allocate our resources to achieve educational goals for our learners, so that our students grow into critical thinkers, achieve the best outcomes and opportunities, and develop a skill set to thrive in an increasingly dynamic and diverse world.

Want to connect?

 I would love to meet you and hear what is important to you.

I am holding Candidate Coffee Chats so I can learn what issues matter most to you and will be attending the LWV and SPS SEPAC's forums. I hope you can use these opportunities to learn more about my platform so I can learn what is most important to you about our schools. If you cannot attend, I am happy to schedule a Zoom chat.

Would you like to host a yard sign or Zoom Chat?
